When I built my car I mistakenly thought I wanted the quickest rack I could get. I put in a 1980 Mustang power unit with the "sport" ratio. This, combined with the small diameter steering wheel, made steering effort plenty high, though not unpleasant for me. The car is also a little "twitchy," as a result. This is partly due to the 90" wheelbase. I would also note that, after making a turn, a certain amount of steering wheel return rotation is necessary to cancel the blinking turn signal. My ratio is so fast that the column sometimes doesn't rotate enough to cancel the turn signal lever back to neutral. Then I look even more like an old geezer, driving around with a signal flashing. I put in a loud flasher, but the car is too loud for me to hear it blinking. A slower, non-power rack is on the to-do list-no big deal, just a shame I threw away the time and money.
