THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WATCH FOR THE SOUTHEAST ONE HALF OF NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS FROM NOON TODAY UNTIL 600 AM FRIDAY MORNING. THE FLOOD WATCH IS ALONG AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM GOLDTHWAITE...TO HILLSBORO...ENNIS...KAUFMAN...AND EMORY. THE WATCH INCLUDES THESE CITIES...ALONG WITH WACO...CORSICANA... PALESTINE ...TEMPLE...KILLEEN...MEXIA...CAMERON...AND CENTERVILLE.
THIS MORNING...A STATIONARY FRONT EXTENDED FROM NEAR LAREDO TO CORPUS CHRISTI. WARM MOIST AIR WAS MOVING RAPIDLY NORTH ABOVE THE FRONT...AS A STRONG UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM APPROACHED THE AREA FROM THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA...ARIZONA BORDER. THE COMBINATION OF EVENTS WILL RESULT IN A PROLONGED PERIOD OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS NORTH TEXAS...TODAY THROUGH FRIDAY.
RAINFALL WILL INCREASE WITH TIME...AS THE FRONT RETREATS NORTH AS A WARM FRONT TONIGHT AND FRIDAY. WIDESPREAD RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF BETWEEN ONE AND TWO INCHES WILL OCCUR ACROSS NORTH TEXAS...WITH ISOLATED AMOUNTS OF TWO TO FOUR INCHES... PARTICULARLY WITHIN THE FLOOD WATCH AREA. THE WATCH MAY BE EXTENDED FURTHER NORTH LATER TODAY...DEPENDING ON THE NORTHWARD PROGRESS OF THE WARM FRONT....
