Sounds to me like you made a good decision. I too am getting a 428 from Southern Automotive with all the goodies I can afford-it should be done in a couple weeks. I talked to a lot of other builders, some more expensive than Southern, some less. In the end, Southern seemed liked the best choice. Also, have you considered going with the TKO or TKO II trans instead of the toploader? Not original, but nice to have 5th gear overdrive for highway cruising.

Obviously if you sold your car without a motor, whatever motor you had in it won't effect resale- unless of course there was a significant cost associated with converting the motor mounts from chevy to ford.
