ALITTLE HISTORY ON THE FORD DEALERSHIP AT TAHOE. IN '68 I BOUGHT MY FIRST HOME THERE....SOLD MY 289 COBRA, CSX2192 & MY '67 GT500 # 0962. SHELBYS DEALERSHIP WAS ALREADY THERE. A SHORT TIME LATER CARROLL CHANGED THE NAME TO SHELBY-STEFFANS FORD.AFTER THAT IT SOLD TO FRED STREETER , AND BECAME STREETER FORD. FRED UNTIL HIS DEATH LAST YEAR REMAINED GOOD FRIENDS WITH CARROLL. HIS OFFICE HAD ALOT OF MEMOBILIA. ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO A FRIEND WHO RAN THE PARTS DEPARTMENT THERE CAME ACROSS ALOT OF CARROLLS "STUFF" INCLUDING THE CS TIRES.NOT SURE WHAT BECAME OF ALL THAT AS I HAD A STRONG INTEREST. ANYWAY, HE GAVE ME TWO PLATE FRAMES. I PUT A BLANK PLATE IN ONE AND HAD CARROLL SIGN IT. ITS ON THE DOOR OF MY CAR TRAILER. THE OTHER FRAME I GAVE TO RICK KOPEC. IT'S BECOME A CHALLENGE AS I DRIVE AROUND HERE TO FIND AN OLD FORD CAR WITH THAT FRAME. A SIDE NOTE,BACK THEN A HAD A FLAT BOTTOM BOAT WITH A 427 SO.FAST FOR THOSE TIMES. CARROLL ALSO KEPT A 18' SANGER UP HERE AT HIS (HE OWNED) MOTEL. I DID RACE IT ONCE, IT WAS BLUE AND NAMED "EL COBRA". CARROLL WASN'T DRIVING, BUT I DID PULL IT. THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE SUMMER. SOLD IT LATTER ON TO PAY FOR "PRENATILE" FOR MY FIRST BORN! CARROLL STILL HAS A HOME UP HERE I THINK, WONDER WHAT BECAME OF THE BOAT!!
