the supposition that 5 points are not good for a passenger with no roll bar is false. Granted in a roll over condition where the car collapses on the passenger side, 5 points belts could cause more harm than good. But, even with a roll over there is approx. a 50 % chance the car will pivot over the driver roll bar. In that case the 5 pt belts would benefit. The most important aspect is only 5% of accidents are roll overs; most are front crashes or skiding side crashes where a good belt system is life saving. The idea that ia passanger is better off without a good belt system is akin to the wifes tail that it is better to be thrown from a rolling car because it may catch fire; statistically just aint so.
