I'm out!
I guess I have been let out of the Classics by Elite closet!
I have not avoided our Component Car Family, and the forums, just focused on business and DVSF, while Ed (DV) gives up his expertise and hospitality to all of you, in addition to creating Cobras and Streetrods.
Classics by Elite has so much going on in the shop, DVSF III, working with Don and the Classic Roadsters acquisition, that making the time to dive head first into the forums was going to come in time.
I started with Ed in 1997, throwing ideas around on the original Double Venom. I lived at Lake Choctaw, where some of DVSF is held. Hung out at the shop, cause I got bit by the Cobra.
Ed, Diane and I talked for a long time on how becoming partners could make an enjoyable and long term profitable business out of the Classics by Elite hobby/business that was getting a bit overwhelming for Ed and Diane. Customers wanted Classics by Elite cars, and a deep back log on the calendar needed to be overcome.
We officially became partners on Sept. 11, 2002. This was our committment to this industry and strength in our Country to overcome the worst of times.
Our shop backlog is down to 3.5 months. We still have 4 Cobras and Tony Ripepi's Coupe in the shop to be completed by DVSF III. Classics by Elite now has 4 expert technicians, in addition to Ed and I in the shop, and Diane also taking care of business. We also have 2 part timers.
Yes, I left a career as a Principal Engineer at Honda R&D, because of a snake bite, and have enjoyed every second so far.
Those of you I have met so far, have been such enjoyable discussions, and look forward to continuing to meet the Family in the future. See you at DVSF III!
Jay
