Default 351 Oil Pan

Most companies like Miloden, Canton Aviard have road race style oil pans with so called ears on them, they have swinging gates, that swing inwards towards the oil pickup to minimise oil surge - for the 351W.

If you have an oil pump clearance problem you may be getting into serious problems with the need to go smaller in the flywheel and bellhousing, if clearance is a problem.
Another alternative is to mount a belt driven oil pump on the front of the engine and having it mounted lower than the oil level, with a flexible line to the pickup, and the rest is easy plumb it the outlet straight into the main oil gallery!

Else go dry sumped and have heaps of clearance!
