I just went thru the same problem. I installed a 180 reverse Stewart Warner twice. The first one ran opposite direction. Apparently it was a factory defect. I also have a 90. but at the speedo end. I would suspect your speedo is the problem. If you want to check out the Stewart, lordco has them. Good Luck.
