I put a '69 351 in my Cobra. I had a builder in SoCal buy a '69 short block from a place in Las Vegas that identifies and sells blocks. The builder acquired my block based on the casting number, installed a new crank kit and all was well. The local Ford dealer verified that it was a '69 block for registration purposes and now I have a '69 vehicle for smog purposes.

If you want, I will look up the phone numbers of those places. Also, there is a web site (again, I'll have to look it up) that lists casting numbers for blocks (and heads) for all years and all makes.
