To wash a really grungy car, mix Ivory liquid dish soap in a bucket of water. Unlike other dish soaps, Ivory doesn't damage paint and it removes road grime, oily debri and other nasty stuff. Use a soft sponge to wash with, and a soft towel or chamois to dry.

For bugs and other things smashed things on leading edges, windshield, wings and visors, there's some great stuff for RV's available at Walmart designed for plexiglass cleaning and waxing. It is expensive--about $12 for a spray bottle. Can't remember the name, but I'll be back with it. I've used this product for years on my airplane with great results. Doesn't scratch plexiglass windows, applies a wax and does a great job of removing grass stains and bugs.
