having owned on a turbo AWD, and had friends race theirs, this one has a modification to the ECU, so you can just hold the throttle all the way down, and it will rev and hold at 7500 rpm, so you don't have to watch the tach.
I have seen these cars go mid tens in the quarter mile.
Stout motors, usually it is the transaxle that breaks. My guess is that he shock loaded the engine with a 2600# ACT clutch at 7500 rpm on an upshift. It also appears to be a "second" generation Mitsu, thought to be less strong than the first ones.
