I could really care less how much my Hunter is worth in 20 years - I bought it to enjoy now, not as an investment. But if it requires having your name in some registry to enjoy your car, by all means, pay the Shelby $75K markup!

But what if da Vinci payed some guy in Poland to paint another Mona Lisa, then da Vinci just signed his name - would it be a real da Vinci? For that matter, what if da Vinci didn't actually paint the original Mona Lisa in the first place, he just bought it from some guy in England, then da Vinci framed it and claimed it as his own work? Oh nevermind....
