Lightbulb Autolite Inline Carb..

..was available over the counter from Ford in 1970 and 71. Two sizes, a 875 CFM (1-11/16 bore, part number D0ZX-9510-A) and a 1400 CFM (2-1/4 bore p/n D0ZX-9510-B). They really could be bought from a dealer. I know cause I sold some...

SCCA required that the carb be available to "all competitors" to be legal for Trans-Am however they never did approve it for competition in Trans-Am. Some did run it in Formula A on Boss 302s and Ford hoped it would catch on in drag racing but it didn't happen. As recently as a few years ago I tracked down some NOS carb rebuild kits for a guy in the Northwest that has one on a street Boss. And yes, they do have an idle circuit and can be street driven.
