Default DVSF CobraX June 20 information

Just some basic information about the CobraX.

The event BEGINS at 9 AM. Arrive earlier if at all possible (8, 8:30). The drivers meeting and course walk is at 9 with cars hitting the track immediatly afterwards. If you get there early, then you can be done with the waivers and tech inspection and be one of the first out.

You are welcome to arrive at any time! If you come, you will run!

They will tech cars all day as they arrive. The tech inspection is very basic. They make sure nothing is going to fall off, rattle around or leak on the track. Items like coolant overflow cans, battery hold downs, double throttle return springs, loose wheels and tires, etc. It only takes about 2 minutes. They will put a little dot sticker on your windshield so don't beat them up for it! (fun event, remember)

NO NITROUS. The bottle must be removed from the car!

Bring a helmet if you can otherwise there will be loaners. PLEASE remember to give back the loaner at the end of EVERY run.

There is no parade to the event. There is a MAP on the DVSF site but the directions are as follows (I am sure that this will be in the package):

70 East to 670 East exit 96 towards Grandview Ave, about 3.5 miles. Take 670 East to 315 North exit 2B about 2.2 miles. Take 315 North to Ackerman Road exit about 3.5 miles. Turn right on Ackerman and left on Fred Taylor Drive about .25 miles. The event is on the right. 15 minutes tops!

Look for the guys standing there with clip boards and arm bands. You will need to show them a drivers license for those who are driving and sign the event waiver. Every one must sign the event waiver. Drivers will have a additional dot placed on their wrist band so that the starter know your license has been checked.

If you are bringing a minor, please see the special rules about minors at the DVSF site.

From there you will be directed to the tech area. You will see the guys standing there and it will be marked. Generally I park it and unload and then head to the tech area. Bring your helmet because they will want to look at it as well. But this way they see that the car is not full of stuff that will be a hazard on the course.

At 9AM the drivers meeting and course walk will begin. For this event it will mainly be the course walk. If you want to find your way around the course when you go to drive, the course walk is important. But neither is manditory! ALL the fast guys walk the track!

There will be a food vendor there all day for us. They should be there when we get there. They are your typical cart type vendor.

There will be port-a-johns there as well!

I am planning on being on site NO later than 8AM. If you have trouble, get lost, what ever, give me a call on my cell phone (614) 596-2471. I am also planning on being at the hotels on Thursday. I shouldn't be to hard to find, but a basic description is 5'10, blonde hair, gottee, average build, pushing 40. Car is red with white stripes and NO rollbar, license "GRNCITY". I am at the hotels in an 'official' capacity so if you catch me too late in the day I may not be capable of answering any questions!!! Look around the registration tent, my car (leave a note), passed out by the pool! I am just there to enjoy watching all of you arrive and giving a hand when needed, and most of all, when I am able! After all, I am just a volunteer!

Remember this is an SCCA event. The folks working have taken time off work to be there for us. Nuf' said!

SCCA has about a dozen people that are going to be there to help. BUT we will need some help on the track to pick up cones. It is a great way to learn the course and maybe have a chuckle or two! If the public crowd grows to large or is not paying attention, we may need some folks to explain what is going on to them.

There is no seating! Aside from your Cobra of course!

Questions???????

CAN'T WAIT!!!!! JUST 10 MORE DAYS!!!!!!

Rick
