The problem you may run into with the Corvette LS1 is the clearance between the rails. The Corvette has large wings sticking out the sides of the sump that may hit on your chassis rails. I know they don't fit between the rails of a Superformance without some cutting and welding.

The best option is the Camaro/Firebird LS1 or LS6 and T56. Internally they are exactly the same as the Corvette. The Z06 has some head work done on it to make the extra HP but you can easily make the same kind of HP with a stock LS1 and a good exhaust, Cold air intake and careful dyno tuning.

Shifter location isn't a problem There are a few different shifters avilable for the T56. Or you can modify your box to move the shifter forward like mine.

There are a lot of LS1 powered Cobras down here now and their performance potential is awesome.
