427s intended for marine duty were cast as side oilers but to save money Ford never drilled passages , so therefore, they are center oilers. The passages can be drilled to make them side oilers but the process is expensive and impractical.

Again, this looks like a marine block that was pulled from a boat and converted for road use.

The usual question asked during due diligence on such a motor is whether it saw fresh or salt water duty and did it have a closed cooling system.

I'd assume given the $25,000 dollar asking price and the investment in expensive doo-dads that the block is solid.

Still, there's a 428 with Webers posted for sale here for less than half the cost of this motor. You be the judge if this one is worth the freight......
