My camera mount is absolutely stable. It does not move around at all. I am using a high quality Bogan brand ball head which I highly recommend.

I do think the camera used is critical. I had a heavier 'Handycam" which has its weight distributed on a horizontal plane causing leverage on the mount. Airplane guys call it "moment". It's the distance from the CG or leverage point in addition to the the weight which is important.

The camera I now use is not only very light weight but the weight is centered directly above the mount which results in a very stable system.

this is the camera I use. It is a little bigger than a cigarette box.
