A lot of looks, but no one wants to take a shot at this!!!

When you say the wrong "water jacket" was used....... what do you mean? To me, the water jacket is the area inside the block that containes the coolant. You can't change the water jacket!

There are small block water pumps that have the water inlet on either the passenger side or the drivers side...... depends on model/year/application. Also comes in aluminum on some models too. Most if not all are interchangable. Just don't use a reverse rotation pump from later production engines if your motor uses a "V" belt.

A little more explaination is needed so we know exactly what you are referring to..... front cover maybe?
