Jim's correct - the timing chain cover will accept either rotation pump. I believe it was around 1983 that Ford started changing to serpentine belts, which changed the pump rotation and therefor the inlet location. BTW: FMC p/n M-6059-D351 is the cover

My cover just had a freeze plug in the dipstick hole. A few raps with a drift and out it came! I then re-used the plug for the hole in the block (rear on driver's side - between cyl's 3 & 4).

What is the problem that caused the question?
