I have a quick question on horsepower.

I'm considering an engine that puts out about 430 horses. Given that it's a pretty normal 406 with a carb. any idea on max speed the car could go on, say, an oval with time to wind up?

Given a rear ratio of 3.05, TKO II 5th of 0.82 and 26.7 dia. tires at 5500rpm we'd be sliding by at 175mph but I really doubt that the engine would produce enough at 5500 to get there.

I'm looking for something like a "horsepower required for given speed" chart. Sort of like; to go "this" fast you need "this" horsepower.

Basically I'm looking at the tire selection to make sure the speed rating of the tire is higher than that which could appear on the speedo.
