Not Ranked
I just broke a T5 and replaced it with a TR3550 from Forte's part connection. They have the belhousings(McLeoed) and shifters(Pro 5.0). With the 3550 you can run a clutch made for the T-5 as it has the same spline. They ran the 3550 in the Cobra Mustang.
The T-5's third gear let go at a short road course and that was with my pretty Mild(267rear wheel HP) 302. Forte's said the 3550 was fine unless I was running a supercharger then they advised a TKO.
One word of advise is to look into changing the OD gear to a .80 if you plan on road racing the Cobra. The .63 OD gear kills acceleration at speed. On the street it is great but at 120mph on the track it just kills acceleration.
The 3550 is a big improvement over the T-5 and will hold up to most all small blocks up to about 450hp. Your engine is borderline.
Also the word on the shifter that comes with any Tremic is they are very sloppy. I ordered a Pro 5.0 shifter with my tranny so I never used the stock Tremic shifter
