6. 289 had no fender flares, per se, hence the "slab-side" moniker. 7. grille opening was smaller, and a different shape than 427 cars. 8. small inlets on 427 car, just outboard of quick-jack/bumper mounts, used for brake cooling duct. (I think). 9. Most 289 cars didnt have a rollbar; 289FIA cars had the forward-mount rollbar. 289FIA Cobras had the flared front fenders, minus the brake cooling vents, and "cut-back" doors...these doors' rear edges were curved to match the shape of the rear flares.
