I don't think anyone is copying anyone. they are going for "where to get the most bang for their buck". The cars will be build as engineered. South Africa has got to be cheaper than anywhere in the US, in labor, rent, benefits, power, etc.
Bottom line, a lot of America's stuff is made in countries with cheap labor, nothing wrong with that either, as companies all want to make a profit, and buyers want a deal. Look at Nike! I pay $75 (+) for a pair of ked hitops that cost them maybe 4 or 5 dollars to make in some country where you could probably buy a life for $20.Top computer "software guru's" in India are where MicroSoft sends you when your having problems with Flight Simulator software. They do just as good a job, and cost next to nothing. Again, nothing wrong with this. So, pay an engineer to design you a car, have another engineer design a plant, and get a labor force to put it together. All they have know is their particular part of the build, and at the end of the finish line is a completed object. Couldn't be easier.
Didn't Japan name a town or place USA where they made merchandise, shipped it out here and put a ltag on it saying "Made in USA"?
Sneaky huh?????
