Post Alternator help ........please???

I am using an early Ford alternator (63/64 Full size Mercury). It has the round back as fitted to the 289 Cobras, (see gallery photo). It has a plastic plug that houses 3 wires. (1) 10 gauge (obviously for the battery)on a 1/4" stud & (2) others that are 16/18 gauge that plug on to male spade terminals . These spade terminals have me baffled which are they (??) Field, Ground, or Stator??? It does not have the individual studs like later model types. So far (today) I have not been able to find an answer.

Thanks in advance

Rick
