That is the correct alternator for an early small block Cobra and as it has the correct "plug in" connection it f does not have the "A, S, F" cast in like later Ford alternators do. Watch my lips...TURK WAS WRONG!!! (grin, grin..)

The wire harness to the alt is as follows:

Black= "Alternator" goes to the starter relay "A" terminal and thus to the battery

White= is "Field" and feeds to the regulator field terminal

White w/ Black= Stator feed to the regulator "S" terminal

Black w/ Red= Ground, should have a ring terminal on the end to screw into a body/chassis spot.

BTW, if you want I might have access to NEW harnesses for that set, that is the harness that plugs into the alt and feeds to the regulator. Email me if you need one.
Hope this helps,

Rick

And now I have looked at your picture in better detail I see that the wire colors are not as I described, the big Ford/Mercury may have used a different color code, I relayed the setup used by the 63-64 T-Birds. I will look for my full size ford wire charts and let you know. Email me for more info
