The coil overs didn't make any difference with the clearance with the wheels. The tight clearance is with the bolts that hold the thick metal weldments that hold the latch plates in place.
I went with the 6" backspacing because that is what somebody told me I would need. If I had to do it over again I think I'd go with 5 3/4" backspacing ... or measure everything and use the measurements!
