Tough decision!

Wife, son in law?? Just how muching driving is your family going to do? If it would be justified from a time behind the wheel standpoint, do the auto. The car is for enjoyment and if your car is going to be a family resourse, share it.

On the other hand resale. This issue has been talked to death.

How about . . . . Go with the 428 auto in the beginning, . . .
Save a little scratch and build the motor/transmission combo "you will want", after driving the stock 428/auto for a while. The eventual swap wouldn't be that hard. The family will show their colors. They will be driving, or you will be justified in the change. One way or another everyone is happy in the long haul, just a little extra work.
