There is no way to veirfy that this engine was in a Shelby other than to match the VIN. The 428 CJ was built in one version only in 68 and appeared in the GT500 KR and the Mustang. It was until recently the fasted pure stock Mustang ever....blows the doors off a Boss 429!
BTW, there were no "428 truck motors"...428s went only in big Fords and Mercury, T-Birds (starting in 1966) and Mustang/Cougar and Fairlane/Montego models. The CJ went only in the pony cars in 1968, mid year to be exact.
