BW64,,,,,lighten up, it's not about being "ignorant" or filled with "hate". We drive "old school" kind of cars. While I understand the "logic" of the Mitsu, where it's made etc. by name alone it is STILL a Japanese car. The Hondas that are made in Tennessee get the same respect as the Hondas that are made in Japan. I still consider them "rice burning" imports. Not a bad thing, could be a good thing. But it is what it is!
To me it doesn't matter where the Mitsu is made or who designed it, it IS an "import" for all intents and purposes. Ignorant? Nah, it's PUBLIC perception, a "stigma" if you would. Mitsubishi sure don't sound like a name from the heart land I grew up in, LOL
Anyway, I see the "bashing" here of the Mitsu as all in good fun. Nothing different than a lively discussion between a Red Skins fan and a Dallas Cowboys fan. They "love" to hate each other on "game day", and share a beer after afterward. Their both good people in the end, it don't mean nothing when the smoke has cleared.
I recently spent some time with the Mitsu group at a local cruise in. VERY knowledgable, and proud of their machines. Some awesome stuff, high tech stuff. They too enjoyed checking out my Cobra, they loved the "old school" approach to performance. Come race day at the track, I will show them no mercy, ha ha. And on the short course, I WILL eat their lunch without remorse! Then maybe I'll cruise with them on the way home, their a great bunch of guys!
