Not Ranked
I have had a 351w with a 6-71 dyers blower for almost 6 years now. I have lots of experience with 6-71 Blowers on windsors. I'm assuming you mean a blower not a small paxton or something.
I ran 8.3:1 compression with 10lbs boots with 11%OD never had a problem on 93octane gas. With just a summit RV cam I was pushing 550hp. The problem with blowers is not octane, infact I never once had a problem with octane and I used to run the crap out of this thing. The problem is with heat. Every stop light you come too you can see the temp rise and rise. I have spoke to techs, other people with blowers, and its all the same. Major heat problems. There is a reason you dont see many blown cars, they just arent practical. One guy had a 5 row aluminum rad, same problem. Anouther problem are heads. If your heads can flow enough, it will keep more heat inside the motor. A 408,426,ect,ect without a blower is going to need some kick butt heads, adding a blower is really adding to an already existing problem. Don't get me wrong you can stroke and blow, but you will have other sacrifies.
Hope this helps a little.
