. . .yes you can. It has been done for years. A light lash of generally .008" and .010" on the rockers is set. This has been a common practice for years. No damage to the camshaft at all. It all started with the class racing of hyd. roller engines and the valvetrain problems they faced due to the mass of the lifter and the inability to use a stiff spring to dampen the mass without colapsing the hyd. valving.
