That is what I thought. You are looking for dual purpose. There are serious compromises to be made for dual purpose tire in the 15" size. Hoosier TD is a 'treaded' (really more like a groved slick) DOT legal tire and then of course there are the Goodyears from some one like Roger Krause. Not DOT legal but a fairly sticky tire from what I hear.
I run TDs on the car always. The difference in handling vs the BFGs is nothing short of remarkable. Probably on line with what you will experience when to go to a ultra high performance tire in the 17" size. The difference is, you will not have to make all the compromises that you have to make with TDs. Such as, they wander like crazy (bias ply), they pick up every rock in a one mile radius, very short life span, lack of ready replacement, if the pavement is wet, you are parked (heaven help you if there is standing water). But on the plus side, they stick like glue and I lost up to 16 pounds of unsprung weight at EACH corner. A difference that I could definiatly feel.
As much as I prefer the look of the 15" wheels, there is probably a 17" set in my future some day.
To all:
If you have not driven your car with out a set of really good performing tires, you would be amazed at the difference.
Any one have an extra set of 17" PSE's for me?
