...As stated no original Cobra came from SAI with a cammer, a few were retro fitted. The "Astronaut" engine thing I think you are talking about was Scott Carpenter and his 427 Cobra was stolen and when recovered was missing the engine and trans. He had a boneyard Lincoln 430 and MX large case automatic fitted. I have an old "Shelby Owners Newsletter" in which the author describes attempts to buy that car from Carpenter.

I do not think any 1966 Galaxies came with the cammer. My understanding (I could be wrong) was that a couple of 1964s and possibly 65's had them installed in a vain attempt to convince NASCAR that these were RPO units. It did not work. Another one of the early NASA astronauts had a SOHC Galaxie and Ford tried to use that as proof that there were avaialable to "the general public" YEAH, RIGHT!

Yes, Jay's M&L Cobra has a cammer now. If I can find the pictures in the old magazine I will post cammer in a Cobra pictures.
