Early Jensen Intercepters had 383 mopars. Around 71 they switched over to 440's. No hemis that I knew of though. And man were they heavy. They competed with Aston Martin DB6's.
How about early sportscars like Allards, Scraabs and the like. Actually stuffing a V8 in a small body is nothing new if you think about it. It goes back to roaring 20's and earlier if you look for it.
