Chrysler stopped production of the Tiger because no suitable Chrysler engine would fit. The later Mk 1A and Mk2 Tigers had a Chrylser pentastar on the side of the car but that was about it. The Ford 260 (and later the 289) was chosen because it was the only engine that you could cram into the engine bay, mated to a toploader and driven through a Dana 44 it was a true street sleeper.
