Use the hole for the windshield washer pump button. That is often where I would put the Halon handle on cusromer's cars. Nobody uses the windshield washer pump anyway, well you shouldn't have to.
The changes listed happened over a period of time, I haven't touched a SPF in two years, so I don;t know whayt other changes have happened, but here's ashort list off the top of my head:
Wheels: from steel with phony hubcaps, to trigo's, to SPF trigo clones
Brakes: changed to willwood calipers from ford calipers, same rotors. E-brake changed to willwood spot calipers too, and some mechanical advantage was tremoved from the pull cable assembly by removing a pivoting rod, to gain more travel.
They dropped the floor about 2" on the drivers dside.
Drop down fuse panel
Rollbars in chrome instead of black powdercoating.
Motor mount pedestals changed very early
rear diff mounts reinforced
changed ground wire location by the battery box
smaller gauge battery cables
changed the radiator fans
not sure what else, gotta go to a meeting now
