I believe it was 1996 when the 4.6 OHC modular engine was the ONLY V-8 offered in the Mustang. The 1995 Mustang Cobra was the first application on the 4.6 OHC.

'94 and '95 5.0 V-8's had some changes, but not huge ones. '93 motors used hyperuretic pistons, '94-'95 did not. The "hyper" pistons are NOT Nitrous and "blower" friendly. In essence the 94-95 5.0's are the strongest ones Ford made.
