Maybe so, but I called Barry Grant and gave them my engine specs, and they made a carb for My engine. Out of the box it worked better than 2 months of tinkering with the holley. Can you call holley and get them to tell you what jets to run? Also, I wanted the instant gratification of mechanical secondaries. When I want power, I want it right now. If my holley had mechanical secondaries, I probably would have tinkered a while longer.
Holley doesn't do high perf Holley's. You have to go with one of the many carb guys to get that kind of support. BG made his niche by doing Holley Carbs for a long time, then copied the design. Then Holley made him change a few things, and he now sells the demon. If anyone is interested, I know where there is a brand new first generation BG carb 750 DP for sale. A frend bought it, couldn't get it to work right, I got tired of screwing with it, so I loaned him a Holley that I knew worked good. It's pretty with billet parts and all.
