Here is an example link to a company that does CA-MVBs. There are several on the web that do this too, but make sure its for California. Some of the National providers might not work.

I had to get a CA-DMV MVB once for a 1965 Mustang that had a trail of bills-of-sale, with an application for dupliate title, and the titled owner was unavailable. Essentially the insurance bond provided the extra insurance in case something came up in regards to the car's title history. They may check your credit history, etc, before issuing a bond. In some of the CA/DMV stuff it says you need a bond for vehicles above $5000 value. Good Luck. Duane
