No one answered this one and I just calculated it, so here is what it will cost in California:
$10 - Interstate transfer fee
$40 - County registration
$15 - Title transfer fee
$1,000 - 2% license fee (ouch)
$3,875 - 7.75% Orange County, CA sales tax
$4,940 total. You pretty much nailed it!
