I have followed the development of the Roush motor for a while now. I had planned to get one although I was a little concerned it uses a 2 bolt main. I called them every few months this year checking on the status of the stack EFI, most of the time it was like pulling teeth but I eventually got the right guy. Last I heard it would be available at the end of this year. I was hoping due to their size they would be able to price the unit a little less than the competition but I believe the cost of the 402R EFI will be around 20k. I'm sure it will be an excellent unit.
I have heard they are now offering the heavy duty blocks such as Dart. That would be a no brainer for such a pricey engine. Of course, the EFI can also be added on down the road.
For me in the end, it was all a moot issue. Stinkin rottin NJ regs are making me use an old pre '72 block.
I am so gosh darn diddly mad at them.
However, I am very happy with my second choice, a 418 stroker from the Engine Factory that is currently on order.
