I can appreciate where you are coming from, but my bit of advise would be to wait. Ford made many, many toploaders. Why not find one that suits your needs entirely? As you know, building a car can pose it's challenges, so adhering to simple rules when simple rules apply can sometimes be the best bet. Remembering the phrase "garbage in, garbage out" could possibly apply in this situation. It sounds like you are building a nice replica, so save a little time and money in the long run and buy the best one you can get your hands on. If that means waiting a bit while you do a little more searching, then so be it. I think you'll be happier in the end. If there are any Ford specific swap meets coming up in the near future, that could be a good source, or check at a local breakers, or a publication like Hemmings Motor News for possible leads.
