Default Wheel Spinner Locking Device

Not too long ago, on ebay there was a Contemporary Cobra that was for sale (it was removed from sale only after about 2 days). What I noticed in the many detailed pictures of this car was the following...

A thick wire ring, which fit outboard of the spinner lug, inside of one of the threaded groves. The ends of the wire ring were then turned back and safety wired together. So the effect was that this gizmo, acted as a thread jamming device for the spinner. BTW, the spinner was also saftey wired as is typically done.

I have not seen this kind of thread jamming device used before. I have a copy of the picture at home and will upload it to this post later this evening.

Can someone tell me about this device?

here is the picture of the hub. At the bottom of the round center hub (look closely it appears to be made from brass or coathanger) is the ears of the wire device and the saftey wire that holds it. I am NOT talking about the normal safety wire on the spinner. Just click on this url below to see it. (too big to upload).
