My 2 cents (for fear of extending this thread even further)...
I've had about 10 years in IT - 6 in real technical 'ones-and-zeros' stuff and 4 years in management. My customers (i've mostly contracted) have been Shell, BP, Total, Merrill Lynch, Pfizer, Prudential, New Zealand Trade Development Board, Southern Cross / Aetna Health...
...now that i've finished blowing my own trumpet...
my point is that i've had lots of experience with some pretty large organisations and have learned much from those experiences.
so I feel pretty qualified to say that Brent and his team do a great job. I suspect (but don't know for sure) that it's a labour of love for which they don't get financial reward.
either way, you've got to focus on the positives that come out of this rather than the negatives:
they've built a huge community of Cobra lovers (those that are freaks, fanatics, simply curious or freaks and fanatics in the making).
they've built the most singularly useful Cobra internet forum in the world (i'm quite confident in stating this because i've spent many MANY hours trawling the net and this place has to be the best for information sharing amongst Cobra enthusiasts - the feedback from the members kinda reinforces this feeling too).
no doubt this beast has grown considerably from its early days and so probably the way that they manage the site has also had to evolve. and if these guys are just as human as you and me and have jobs, wives, children to look after (not to mention leaking roofs, dogs to walk, fences to paint, someone else's wife to look after - only kidding!...) then surely it's understandable that they're not going to have much time to make a decision on what does or doesn't get canned.
sometimes the Team may make a mistake - in which case i'm sure that the people who feel mis-treated will take the issue up directly with Brent's Team and resolve the situation that way.
If that doesn't work then it's probably best to simply walk away: you haven't lost anything - the only rights of ownership are held by the web-site owners and developers.
I think the overwhelming support that Brent and his team have received in response to this thread has been great and speaks for itself. Which may well have been a cunning piece of work by the Team! ;o)
sometimes ya jus' gotta let it go...
Plus - any time spent complaining about this site could in fact be better spent working on your car!
just my 2 cents...
wishing you all a fantastic New Year. now can somebody please kill this thread!
