I think I can field this one for George.
427 LeMans rods and 428 SCJ rods differ in the type of rod bolts they used. The SCJ rod used a bolt that had a shorter bolt head for added clearance in the block.
Yes, I do run a chase tap thru the bolt holes when installing new aftermarket bolts. Also check the fit of the dowels in both sides of the rods and replace when needed. And re-size the rods.
