Under car exhausts
Dan,
Thanks for the compliment of ERA 561..
It is a beautiful car, especially in BRG paint. That's one of the reasons why I puchased it.
Sam and Tim,
To answer a few questions about the under car exhausts, this car came with cast iron exhaust manifolds on the 427 S/O that were repaired / welded / painted previously and had small cracks that developed into larger cracks and bigger exhaust leaks..They were replaced with ERA's new system of individual ceramic coated headers that collect into the primary. The ceramic coating lessens the under hood temp..The pipes go thru flowmaster mufflers and come to the rear fender and circle inside the fender between the tire and frame and exit the rear. The chrome exhaust tips are angle cut but the correct original tip is straight and rolled. Because of the movement of independent Jag rear and the ground clearance there could be a problem running the pipes below the Jag half shafts.
There is enough room and clearance in the fender for this with an ERA.
According to Peter Portante of ERA, this under car exhaust set up is less restrictive or equal to the popular outside exhaust.
I can tell you one thing, this old man can carry on a conversation in the car, not have hearing impairment after driving it some distance, not smell of exhaust fumes and not have to worry about third degree burns for myself or passengers when exiting the car.
Check with a good tube bender.
