Thanks for the compliment on the car.
The collector is what I refer to as a cloverleaf type to accomodate the four individual pipes.
The diameter of the primary pipe is 2 inch and is flared out to 2.25 to enter the flowmaster muffler. It exits the mufflers at 2.25 diameter. Your oval pipe may work. ERA recommended the 2 inch diameter. In my case, I chose not to increase the diameter very much in keeping with the look of the original car, ground clearance and inside fender clearance.
I'm confident that there is horsepower to gain with the larger pipes but I simply left it alone..I did notice scrapes on the bottom of the mufflers so I'm glad I did.
I don't have any pic's of the exhaust set up but in the archives of this site there are some pics of the system in it's entirety.
Check with Peter @ ERA about the restrictive nature of this along with the diameters.
