Oil Pump Shaft
I have been running a Ford Racing High Volume pump in a small block in my Cobra for several hundred miles without pump drive shaft breakage. The pump came with what looks like a std hex drive shaft which was too long out of the box. I cut it down until the pump mount flange sat on the block OK. I don't race the car. Without a high strength shaft am I living on the edge? I'm running an MSD dist. and don't have a problem with gear breakage as some of the members have had, at least not yet! Has anybody run a stock shaft with this pump without problems?
