Default Got another question...

Hey guys,

After seeing some pics of your engines and talking to a few people I realized that There isn't a whole lotta space under the hood with a 460. How do you change sparkplugs and work on your engines? I am asking these questions cause I want to do my cobra right.

Actually, changing plugs on the passanger's side isn't bad in a Superformance (I can't speak for other makes). The driver's side (especially #8 cylinder) is a different matter, as there are conflicts with the foot box and steering shaft. The best way to tackle that is with the valve cover off, a universal and a small electric ratchet

Other routine maintenance seems to be --------- routine

Default Changing Plugs

Chad,

Only one or two of the plugs are tough (well, I guess that's a relative statement! Anybody changing plugs on a 460 in a cobra has signed-on the the fact that it won't be a zip-out zip-in deal).

The next time I have to do it, I plan on attacking the tough ones from underneath. I've checked it out and the access looks better than from the top down (I'd need one more joint between my elbow and wrist!).

yeah i figured it wouldn't be a problem but just had to check. The 460 is the engine I want. Nothing sounds like a BB! I heard a 427 at a local car show and after hearing it through those chrome pipes I had to get a BB. I heard a 351 at HOC but it just wasn't loud and mean like a BB. I want the walls of my garage to shake.

My only plug that is a problem on my 460 is the driver's side rear. (FFR kit). I ended up drilling a hole in the footbox wall (no one can see it) and covering it over when not needed. the remaining driver's side plugs are easy to get to underneath the car. Passenger's side can be easily reached topside.
