Not Ranked
Well. I drove the buggy a couple days ago with the new 514. It sounds great and is running much cooler......dont know if my gauges are right yet but never got past 190 (yes! temp, not MPH!). Clutch set up is better this time around the interior all done for the first time so it actually fealt like a completed project.
Not much to report though. I blew that other 514 (due I am sure to my prior referenced oil pressure issues) at 6400 RPMs. I've figured out now that I dont need to go that high even with good oil pressure! For now I am just breaking it in. I have read up on all the Cobra fatalities and accidents on the board and plan on taking it a little easy. I had the old one floored in third a few times.......always eased her on......and it seemed to hold what power that engine had pretty well. I had a porsche (still do) that did a sharp right hand turn for "no" reason in third gear once. Staring straight ahead at the guy in the passenger seat and the approaching phone pole is no picnic. I thought it was rediculous that the airbags blew and took out the dash and the windshield.....(and whats with tires these days that all four of them should blow at once? Not a scratch on the body. But oh so nearly totalled all the same). Porsches have more wires than Cobras. I mean the car was hardly moving when the airbags blew.....least so I thought, but when I retraced my steps the next day and realized I was in the ditch for almost 500 ft. before I "negotiated" the intersection that set off the airbags I understood the issue a little better.
Anyway, I digress........I am sure its fast. But I am a bit freaked now. Will I ever really know? Do those Mosers and the Power trac rear end help my cause when I close my eyes and floor it in third gear?? Do they?????? Oh. OK. I forgot. MUST KEEP EYES OPEN. If all fails both feet in and duck, right?
